No. Federal law makes it illegal for bankruptcy to affect your military career. What can cause you problems, however, is if debt collectors and creditors contact your commanding officer trying to collect their bills. Until you file bankruptcy, they may try to do that. Once you file bankruptcy, they cannot do that any longer. So, in some circumstances it can actually help your career by stopping the harassing calls.
